The ScamSecurityCheck Chrome extension lets you check any link, message, phone number, or image for scams without ever leaving your browser. Here's everything you need to know to get started.

Step 1Install the Extension

Click the button above or search “ScamSecurityCheck” in the Chrome Web Store. Click “Add to Chrome” and confirm. The shield icon will appear in your toolbar. If you don't see it, click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome and pin ScamSecurityCheck.

Step 2Scan Your Current Page

See a website that looks suspicious? Click the ScamSecurityCheck shield icon in your toolbar, then click “Scan Page.” The extension reads the current URL and runs a full scam analysis instantly — no copy/paste needed.

Step 3Right-Click Any Link

You don't even need to open the popup. Right-click any link on any webpage and select “Check this link for scams.” The result opens on ScamSecurityCheck.com with a full report.

Step 4Scan a URL, Text, or Phone Number

Click the shield icon to open the popup. Select the tab for what you want to check — URL, Phone, Text, or Email. Paste or type your input and click Scan Now. You'll get a verdict in seconds.

Step 5Upload a Suspicious Image

Received a fake check, invoice, or screenshot that looks off? Click the Image tab in the popup, drop your image into the upload zone or click Browse, then hit Scan Now. The AI analyzes the image for scam indicators.

Step 6Read Your Results

Every scan returns one of three verdicts:

🟢
Safe (0–29)— No significant threats detected
🟡
Suspicious (30–59)— Proceed with caution, review the flags
🔴
Scam Detected (60–100)— Do not click, reply, or engage

Below the verdict you'll see a 0–100 risk score and specific flags explaining exactly why it scored that way — brand impersonation, sketchy domain, FBI alert match, and more.

Step 7Full Report & Report Scam

Two buttons appear after every scan:

  • Full Report — Opens the complete analysis on ScamSecurityCheck.com
  • Report Scam — Opens our reporting directory so you know exactly which agencies to contact (FBI IC3, FTC, your bank, and more)

Step 8Sign In for Unlimited Scans

The extension includes one free scan to try it out. Sign in with your ScamSecurityCheck account to unlock unlimited scans with a Plus subscription. Click Sign In in the popup and log in with your existing account — the tab closes automatically and you're in.

Does the extension work on all websites?

Yes — the extension works on any website in Chrome. The right-click scan works on any link on any page.

Does it run in the background?

No. The extension only activates when you click the icon or right-click a link. It never monitors your browsing or runs in the background.

Is my data stored?

No. Everything you scan is analyzed in real time and immediately discarded. We never store your scan history on our servers. Recent scans are saved locally in your browser only.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

You keep access to the one free trial scan. Your account and scan history remain intact if you resubscribe.

Is the extension free?
